What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is actually a tooth-shaped restoration that simply fits over the visible structure of a tooth in order to protect it. The crown can be shaped to resemble a natural tooth in every way so that it delivers both a restorative and cosmetic solution at the same time. We will typically recommend that a patient get a dental crown if:
- They have a tooth with a cavity too large to be repaired with a filling
- An injury has left the tooth extremely cracked or fractured
- If a tooth’s shape is affecting the alignment of the bite
- If the tooth cannot be whitened using standard methods
- To make the tooth appear more uniform in size
Beautiful Tooth-Colored Dental Crowns

It’s completely normal for a person to experience a chipped, cracked, or broken tooth at some point in their life. These dental problems can be easily addressed at our Broadview Heights practice, where we only use the highest-quality material for our restorations to provide natural-looking solutions. With all-porcelain dental crowns from trusted manufacturers that are carefully color-matched to the rest of your pearly whites, we can restore your smile in a way that makes it look like nothing ever happened to it.
The Process of Getting a Dental Crown

When you come in to get a dental crown, Dr. Farian will first examine your tooth, and once it is decided that a crown is the right treatment, the doctor will remove the damaged/decayed portion of it and take a digital impression. This impression will be automatically sent to a dental lab to design and fabricate your crown, and you’ll return to our office to have it placed after about two weeks. You’ll be fitted with a temporary crown in the meantime.
